Malta Credit Bureau Ltd (MCB) has been granted a licence (Licence No. 07/6046) to operate as a Credit Reference Agency, in line with the Trade Licensing Act (Cap 441) – Trade Licences Regulation, 2018 (S.L. 441.07).
MCB is a Maltese company, with its primary function being to issue credit scores on natural and legal persons, including credit institutions. Incorporated on 18 October 2021, the company aims to be recognised as a highly reputable credit scoring company in Malta, providing excellent quality and credit scoring services to its customers.
The issuance of credit scoring reports in Malta is an innovative product, which will benefit all creditors in their analysis of credit risk.
MCB focuses on providing credit scoring reports which are crafted to offer deeper insights into the creditworthiness and risk levels associated with potential borrowers or clients. This empowers companies, credit and financial institutions to make well-informed decisions about extending credit, ensuring prudent risk management practices. In this manner, MCB helps to protect credit and loan facilities, pertaining to Maltese trade creditors and credit and financial institutions alike.
MCB, under the supervision of the Central Bank of Malta, will have access to the Central Credit Register (CCR) data for issuing credit scores.
MCB will also be seeking ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certification and work in this regard has already started.
