Welcome to Malta Credit Bureau
Malta Credit Bureau (MCB) is a licensed Credit Reference Agency, (Licence No. 07/6046), in accordance with the Trading Licenses Regulations (S.L. 441.07) under the Trade Licencing Act (Cap 441) of the Commerce Department’s Trade Licencing Unit, and is supervised by the Central Bank of Malta.
We provide accurate and informative credit scores, calibrated to the Maltese market, thereby significantly improving the decision making of trade creditors and credit and financial institutions in Malta.
MCB provides comprehensive Credit Scoring Reports, on both individuals and corporate entities registered in Malta, in order to assist creditors in their credit due diligence processes, and in their credit worthiness analysis of prospective and existing customers. Partnering with us allows businesses, lenders and financial institutions to optimize their risk assessment processes, minimize credit risk and make informed lending decisions. By leveraging our expertise, creditors can confidently identify reliable customers and maintain a healthy credit and loan portfolio.
MCB is jointly owned by two reputable and well-experienced organisations in the field of credit data provision, namely Malta Association of Credit Management (MACM) registered in Malta and Infocredit Group Ltd (ICG) registered in Cyprus.
We offer you the following products: A Credit Score Report on a natural or legal person, upon receiving the necessary request from the creditor, to measure the creditworthiness of a current or prospective customer.
MCB will collate information from the Central Credit Register (CCR) to generate accurate and reliable credit scores. on a natural or legal person upon receiving the necessary request. Creditors would use these credit scores to support their credit decisions.
The Central Credit Register of the Central Bank of Malta
In accordance with the Central Bank of Malta (CBM or the Bank) Act article 24 (2) and Directive No. 14, credit institutions (banks), licensed by the MFSA, are obliged to forward credit and credit risk information, to the Bank, on all their existing clients, whether a natural or a legal person, who have a credit exposure in excess of €5,000 at the end of the reporting month. The Bank securely stores this non-anonymised information at its CCR. Before MCB requests access to information held on the Register, it will first request the counterparty in question for its consent. However, MCB would not be required to obtain this counterparty consent in cases where a local bank requests a credit score.
